The Tearing of the Veil

A supernatural darkness presided over Judea as the Light of the World hung on the cross. The death of Jesus’s physical body set in motion a chain of events. Daylight returned when the sin debt was satisfied. The thick linen curtain in the temple was torn from top to bottom.

A violent earthquake split rocks and many dead were resurrected. The body of Jesus was symbolic of the veil, and when the sin debt was paid, God the Father ordered the curtain in the temple rent, signifying that the separation between God and mankind had been removed. Jesus entered a “greater and more perfect tabernacle” not made by human hands.

He used His own blood, and obtained salvation for mankind. We can therefore confidently approach God the Father because of what Jesus has done. We have access to the holy of holies by a “new and living way” and the Son of God now serves as the eternal high priest over the church.
