Ancient humanity suffered under sickness without the aid of modern medicine. In contrast, Jesus’ ministry brought miraculous healing without drugs or surgery. It was complete and instantaneous, performed through the power of the Holy Spirit.
That same type of ministry was extended to the twelve apostles and the seventy others to heal the sick, cleanse lepers, and cast out demons. After the day of Pentecost, Peter healed the lame man at the temple gate, raised Tabitha from the dead, and healed multitudes when his shadow touched them.
Paul also operated in the gift with handkerchiefs and aprons carrying healing power. All Christians are called to pray for the sick, but only those specially endowed with the gift of healing experience consistent, miraculous results. Operating in this gift is exciting because it means you are in God’s will and He is choosing to use you for something particular.
