German individuals and families who wanted nothing to do with the Hitler regime were forced in all sorts of ways to appear eager participants in the unfolding tragic drama. This is a riveting account, filled with sudden dangers. The author could only cry out, “Lord help me!” Reichert concludes with warnings to the present day church.
