MARRIAGE SUPPER OF THE LAMB
With the Antichrist system is in power on earth, the Catching Away takes place just before the Great Tribulation. When Jesus returns to bring all believers in Christ to heaven, there are several things which take place.
First, Jesus brings back all believers in the Messiah whose bodies died – before and after the cross. Their souls and spirits are united with resurrected physical bodies before the catching away takes place.
“But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
The raptured Christians have their bodies transformed from physical earthly form to special resurrected bodies. Billions are loaded onto heavenly craft and taken to heaven where God resides. Only two people do not take part in the resurrection – Enoch and Elijah – because they were taken alive and brought to heaven.
“And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:
And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:
And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” (Genesis 5:21-24)
“By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.” (Hebrews 11:5)
“And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.
And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. (2 Kings 2:9-11)
The Bible does not reveal why God withheld death from these two men. They were taken to heaven alive and it is inferred their bodies were changed into eternal spirit bodies. Enoch lived before Noah’s flood in the ancient world. Elijah lived after the flood during the time of the kings.
MILLING AROUND IN HEAVEN
Those who have not been to the Judgment Seat of Christ receive the time they appear before Jesus to be judged. In the meantime, God’s people mill around the streets in heaven waiting for the adjudication to finish.
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.” (2 Corinthians 5:10-11)
Another thing that makes life in heaven interesting is the language. The Godhead, the angels, and the believers in Christ speak the same language. There are no barriers to communication like on earth where each nation has their own language. People are constantly curious and Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph and Moses have conversations with people who lived after them as everybody wants to know each other’s life experience. The old timers are fascinated with how the Holy Spirit preserved the Bible through each generation. The people from the 21st century discuss with Sarah how it felt to become pregnant at the age of 90.
Since every believer has received their resurrected body, there is no need for sleep anymore; plus, it is always light in heaven. Time no longer matters, and the only time people stop visiting with one another is when it was time to attend the throne room and worship God the Father and Jesus.
“After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,
Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.” (Revelation 7:9-12)
THE MARRIAGE SUPPER BEGINS
The newcomers start to ask questions about the Marriage Supper of the Lamb and when it will take place. Holy angels are questioned and the standard answer is that it will take place when the last believer in Christ has been to the Judgment Seat of Christ.
“And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.” (Revelation 19:6-9)
Since there is no day or night in heaven, believers in Christ adjust to the time system of heaven. The prophet Daniel was introduced to it with his angelic encounter.
“Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.
And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?
And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.” (Daniel 12:5-7)
Reunion stories abound until a high-ranking angel announces: “Believers in Christ, the Marriage Supper of the Lamb is about to take place. Please follow the directions and proceed to the wedding venue.”
The streets of heaven are filled with billions of resurrected believers in Christ dancing on the golden streets. Everyone is filled with joy as they shout glory to the Lamb that was slain.
The Judgment Seat of Christ has closed its doors and large numbers of angels in festive garments line up the people and ferry them to a most spectacular structure outside the city of God which has been cordoned off until now.
BRIDE OF CHRIST ARRIVES
Everyone gazes awestruck at the edifice which is a colossal bowl whose frame is made of gold. The siding consists of crystal glass panels with recessed lights that make the whole structure glow.
Inside are bleachers covered with crimson velvet to remind everyone of the blood that Jesus shed on Calvary. The bowl is so large that it easily holds billions of believers and everyone is given a designated seat.
The resurrected bodies do not have a digestive system and there is no need for bathrooms, allowing everyone to sit for any length of time and be comfortable. The time it takes to bring in every believer is of no consequence as everyone starts to worship God as the hall slowly fills up.
There is a large round stage in the center of the bowl. It features a huge throne made of gold and decorated with precious stones. In front of the throne are twelve magnificent chairs reserved for the original apostles – minus Judas Iscariot – and Paul, also known as Saul of Tarsus.
Behind the apostles is another section reserved for the seventy others and the thirty- nine women who were part of the entourage of Jesus. The 120 disciples were the inner core of His ministry and they became the foundation of the New Testament church.
There is an outer row of chairs around the throne where the Old Testament saints are seated, beginning with the pre-flood patriarchs from Adam to Noah. Then the post-flood patriarchs like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, and Joshua. Also seated here are prophets of Israel and Judah. King David is seated by himself since he has been selected to reign over Israel in the millennial kingdom.
“And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them.
And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children’s children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever.” (Ezekiel 37:24-25)
“And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.” (Acts 13:22)
THE CERMONY BEGINS
Jesus has selected King David to lead everyone in praise and worship. Rising from his chair in his resurrected body, David looks like a 25-year-old, even though his soul is over three millennia. With a powerful voice, he tells the crowd “Well, here we are at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Are you ready?” The response is deafening as billions of believers stand to their feet and praise Jesus with such volume that it could be described as hundreds of large rivers rushing over a huge fall.
After a long time of praising Jesus, the believers quieted and David said, “We are going to sing Psalm 103.” No songbooks were needed, no projection of the words, every believer had it memorized and they sang the Psalm one hundred times because time was no longer relevant.
Michael the Archangel speaks next and announces: “Believers in Christ, stand to your feet for your King and Savior, Jesus Christ.” The Son of God stands up and there is silence as believers look in awe, love, and worship.
“And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.” (Revelation 1:12-16)
Then Jesus begins to describe how the Godhead decided before the foundation of the world that God the Son was going to be incarnated in human form on earth to bring salvation to mankind. It was a long, slow process until the Romans were allowed to scourge and hang the incarnated body on the cross. The crucifixion was where the Messiah bore the sins of all and paid the sin debt.
Jesus closes with “I did this out of love for all of you!”
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
“At this hour,” Jesus said, “I want to marry you. All believers in Christ will become my eternal bride. I pledge my love and life to you. Are you willing to join yourself to me and be with me forever?”
Every believer cries out in unison, “We are your bride; you are our husband!”
Upon this profession, Michael affirms, “I hereby declare that Jesus and all believers in Christ are now husband and wife. They shall never be separated.”
Angels appear at the venue, handing out fine linen to each believer in Christ, offering congratulations and wishing them eternal joy while an angelic choir begins to sing.
Jesus meets each believer as they come forward, greeting them by name and giving them a loving hug. Meanwhile, the angels keep singing…
What a day that will be When my Jesus I shall see And I look upon His face
The One who saved me by His grace When He takes me by the hand
And leads me through the Promised Land What a day, glorious day that will be.1
“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.” (Revelation 2:17)
“And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.
And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.” (Revelation 19:5-9)
Remember, it’s not so important how you begin your life after salvation, but how you finish it!
Do you have an ear to hear with?
