THE ORIGIN STORY OF JESUS
PART 11: MOVING TO EGYPT
RLJ-1799
JOHN S. TORELL
MARCH 14, 2021
The Godhead paused the virtual time run after Jacob’s return to the land of Canaan and decided for better or worse to accept the twelve sons of Jacob as the basis to form the nation of the bloodline.
THE RAPE OF DINAH
During the virtual time run, the Godhead had seen Jacob would allow his daughter to visit the Hivites unattended. Shechem was the prince that raped and then wanted to marry Dinah.
In his weakness, Jacob turned the matter over to his ten oldest sons, who used the religious ritual of circumcision to trick the Hivite men. When they were dealing with high fever on the third day, Simeon and Levi went to the village with their swords and killed all the men.
The rest of the brothers with the exception of Joseph took captive all the women and the children and made slaves out of them, seized all the livestock, and pilfered anything of value from the village. Genesis 34:1-30
A NAME CHANGE
As the virtual time run continued, the Godhead decided to intervene to get Jacob to line up with their plans. As a result, Jesus entered the virtual run and told Jacob to return to the city of Luz where he had stopped as a young man on the way to his mother’s family. He received a vision from God that night, built an altar the next day and called the place Bethel. Genesis 35:1; 28:16-19
Jacob’s sons were deeply into idol worship – including their mothers and slaves – and he realized they needed to be cleaned up before they could be presented to the Lord. Interestingly, Jacob had no intention of destroying the idols; he collected the pagan paraphernalia and hid them under an oak tree. Genesis 35:2-4
Jesus had to interfere again and used His angels to put fear into the cities and places Jacob’s family had to travel past in order to get to Bethel. verse 5
Jesus intervened again and told Jacob that he was going to receive the name “Israel” which means “power with God.” verses 7-15
Rachel had two slave women; one named Bilhah who had been given to Jacob as a concubine. Genesis 30:3
Some 20 years later, Reuben, Israel’s and Leah’s son, decided to fornicate with Bilhah, not caring that she was his father’s concubine and mother to some of his half-brothers. Israel took no action when he heard what his oldest son had done. Genesis 35:22
MOVING THE BLOODLINE TO EGYPT
The Godhead decided they could not shape the bloodline into a nation in the land of Canaan and it was decided to move them to Egypt. Unbeknownst to Israel and his sons, the Godhead used the Hittite Empire to invade Egypt and force the Egyptians to relocate to the highlands of Southern Egypt.
This was an advantage since the people in Canaan spoke the language of the Hittites. Moving the bloodline to Egypt for a season would be used to build up the numbers of the bloodline so it could become a nation.
The move to Egypt had been foretold to Abraham, but at the time of Jacob it had more or less been forgotten. Genesis 15:13-14
Israel moved his family to the area where Abraham and Isaac had lived and established his clan in this area. Genesis 35:27-29
A DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY
Jacob had ten older sons, but the eleventh was special because Joseph came from Rachael, and Jacob doted upon him to the detriment of his other sons. As a result, Joseph was hated by his older brothers and the situation got so bad that they could not speak amicably with him. Genesis 37:1-11
The Godhead used the hate of the ten older brothers to send Joseph to Egypt. verses 12-28
The older brothers decided to lie and sent word back to their father that Joseph was dead. verses 29-36
The Godhead had earlier prepared Joseph with two dreams that would sustain him during his 13 years of enslavement in Egypt. Genesis 37:5-11
FROM SLAVE TO PRIME MINISTER
As the Godhead continued the virtual time run, they realized it was not fair for Joseph to be a slave. He needed to be educated so that in time he would be ready to assume leadership as prime minister of Egypt.
As a result, Joseph was sold to Potiphar, who was the captain of the guard in the palace. Here he learned to run a business, including reading, writing, and mathematics. Genesis 39:1-6
It was time to move on once Joseph was educated in these matters. The Godhead used the lust of Potiphar’s wife to have Joseph thrown into prison. verses 7-20
It did not take long for Joseph to become the assistant warden and learn how to handle prisoners, feed and clothe them, and keep a strict protocol. verses 21-23
A PROPHETIC MINISTRY
The time had arrived to move Joseph into the palace and the Godhead caused Pharaoh to get upset with his butler and chief baker. Genesis 40:1-4
The Godhead gave these two men dreams and the interpretation was given to Joseph. Everything was fulfilled over time as the butler was restored to his job at the palace and the baker was hung. verses 5-23
Remember, it’s not so important how you begin your life after salvation, but how you finish it!
