What Is Deliverance?

Most people associate the word “deliverance” with the action of being rescued or set free. A glance at the dictionary reveals the word is a noun, referring to the act of delivering someone or something. Deliverance in the Bible is associated with an act of God whereby someone is rescued from their enemies. For example, God delivered the Israelites from slavery in Egypt with the miraculous events of the exodus.

I realize that most Christians are unfamiliar with the spiritual deliverance referenced throughout the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. If we’re going to be honest, the concept of casting out demons just sounds foreign. Yet, that thought also surfaces in the Book of Acts as well. In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus uttered the final instructions to the fledgling church to be carried out after He was gone. The words were clear and unambiguous:

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils…

The Son of God unmistakably commissioned Christians to cast out devils in His name. Weird or not, the intention is obvious. Exorcism involves driving out demons from a person, but since this term is often associated with Roman Catholicism and its superstitions, I prefer to use the word “deliverance” instead. The Son of God was incarnated to rescue mankind from the results of sin. The blood which flowed from the scourging and crucifixion purchased humanity’s salvation.1

For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

All four Gospels record Jesus speaking of a real Devil and the existence of demons (also known as evil spirits and devils), but the Son of God never discusses the origin of the Devil and the demons. The prophets Isaiah and Ezekiel were provided information from the Holy Spirit about Lucifer or Satan. It was revealed that he was a cherub who served as worship leader in the temple in heaven and also was the regent on earth prior to the creation of Adam and Eve.2

When the apostle John was taken up to heaven in the revelation, Jesus informed him that Satan had started a space war prior to Adam and Eve that engulfed the universe when he tried to dethrone God. The attempted coup failed and he and the rest of the fallen angels were cast down to earth.3

The four Gospels feature dozens of examples where Jesus cast out demons or evil spirits.  Starting with the man at the Capernaum synagogue to the infamous Gadarene man tormented by “Legion,” were these just stories or something more?4 Was the incarnated Son of God simply feeding off the superstitions that existed at two thousand years ago? If so, why would He explicitly command His followers to cast out demons before He ascended?

The Bible plainly states that Jesus was God incarnated in a human body. In order for Jesus to pay for the sins of humanity, He would need to be sinless, which He was for some thirty-three years on earth. It is blasphemy to relegate Jesus as a man of His time, being just as superstitious as the rest of the Jewish population. Either Jesus was the God-man or He was not. One cannot have it both ways.

MY BEGINNING
My first introduction to deliverance took place in 1970. I had been trying to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and when I complained to a friend that it seemed that it wasn’t working for me, he bluntly stated I was full of demons and that was my problem. My immediate reaction was fierce anger, but later when I was alone, I spoke a feeble prayer and quietly said, “If I have demons…” That was as far as I got!

The demons began to manifest in me and my back suddenly began to tingle and it felt like it was packed with ice. My wife, Aina, was not home and I knew that it was necessary to fight the demons off. After praying fervently, Jesus responded and the demons were removed from me and my body felt normal again.  I was rooted in the Southern Baptist denomination and a student at a Southern Baptist seminary.

1. I had been told by my professors that demons do not exist.
2. They also stated that Jesus was a man of His time. This is why He was just as superstitious as the rest of the Jewish population.

Since this was the time of the Jesus movement in the 1960s, many books had been written on the subject of demons. This was long before personal computers and the internet, and so I went to a local Christian bookstore to purchase all the books I could find on casting out demons. Pigs in the Parlor was a groundbreaking book by Frank and Ida Mae Hammond which laid the foundation for my understanding of demons and how to cast them out.

After reading many other books on deliverance and discussing demonology with a number of my friends, I started casting out demons as well. The Holy Spirit showed me what to do and what not to do, and some five years later in 1976, I wrote my own book on deliverance called Christian Dynamics Course 1.

DEMONS LIVE INSIDE PEOPLE
I have come to learn that demons (also known as evil spirits and devils) crave to live inside all humans. They will target anyone – even Christians. The physical world in which we live is highly regulated by God. The same is also true of the spirit realm in which the angels – holy and fallen – exist. This means that the minions of Satan can only do what they are allowed to do. When someone breaks one of God’s commandments, this action gives demons a legal right to afflict and enter that person.

CURSED BEFORE I WAS BORN
Jesus told Moses there is a curse – up to four generations – which comes upon a person when they sin against the Lord.5 Looking back at my life, I can see that I was born demon possessed due to the sins of my ancestors. I made a decision for Christ at the age of three when a kind pastor took the time to explain the meaning of a painting hanging in the church. I made Jesus my Lord and Savior at a young age and wanted to serve Him wholeheartedly. The problem was that I had two natures. I could be sweet and extremely destructive.

As a young boy, I picked up expensive objects and cast them into our fireplace. I was extremely cruel; I liked to catch big flies, cut their wings off, and torture them until they died. I would go to my school during the weekends and wander the hallways. The doors were never locked and one day I saw the gym bags and the shoes of my classmates hanging on the wall. I proceeded to throw all the paraphernalia into the river next to the school. I also snuck out at night as a 12-year-old to smash the store front windows of local neighborhood businesses.  I don’t know why, but I was never caught and held accountable for my actions.

My grandmother on my mom’s side loved me, and when I attended high school in the town where she lived, I would go to her home to eat lunch. She had problems walking and asked for help with grocery shopping. I rewarded her faith in me by stealing money from her.

I was a serial liar; looking someone straight in the face and boldly telling them lies was not a problem. During my teenage years, I became more aggressive as a thief and knew that I was out of control. All this took place as I attended Sunday School and a Christian scouting program. I was two different people. A sweet Christian boy and the next minute a monster.

A GRADUAL DELIVERANCE
My deliverance was gradual in nature since I did not have anyone to advise me. The first demons were removed in 1970 and the last one was cast out in 1985 when I learned about the Arrested Development Spirit. Turns out it had been plaguing me since I was conceived. A report from Pastor Rudy LeBlanc came across my desk that described my childhood and explained why I always felt like a boy inwardly; a pastor who felt inferior no matter the situation. I was a grown man who felt like a boy. Can you imagine what it was like to preach, conduct marriage ceremonies, funerals, counseling, etc. in such a state?

STEPS TO SUCCESS
After my initial foray into casting out demons in 1970, I have learned certain things about the process.

1. Speak with a counselor about your expectations and views on casting out demons.
2. Deliverance is about a lifestyle change. It is not a quick fix, but a process that takes time and dedication.
3. The candidate must have a Bible; it is impossible to go through the deliverance process without knowing what God says about the spirit realm, casting out demons, and personal responsibility.
4. The candidate must align themselves with God’s Word if there is to any chance at success. Being delivered from demons, requires choosing between Jesus or the Devil.
5. The candidate must write out their biography so the counselors can gain insight where they have violated God’s laws.
6. It is a prerequisite to go through Christian Dynamics Course 1 and The God of the Old Testament prior to deliverance to determine if you are compatible with our beliefs and methods.

These materials are the only cost incurred. We don’t charge for a service that Jesus specified should be freely given.

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

THE IMAGE OF GOD
Humans are made in the image of God. This does not refer to physical traits such as head, arms, legs, hair, eyes, ears nose, skin color, etc. In the first chapter of Genesis, God refers to Himself in plurality.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…

Thousands of years later in the New Testament, the apostle John revealed the truth of God in the form of the Godhead (Trinity).

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

The Godhead consists of God the Father, God the Son (Jesus, the Word), and God the Holy Spirit. To be made in the image of God means that we are triune just like God.

THE MAKE-UP OF HUMANITY
Adam was created in the image of God with a physical body, soul, and a spirit.

Body

Soul

Spirit

The make-up changed somewhat with the fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden. All humans are still triune like God, but Adam’s spirit that communed with God died and this affected his descendants. This leads to the next graphic and the situation into which all humans are now born. The dead spirit comes into play at the moment of conception.

Body

Soul

Dead Spirit

Jesus stipulated that individuals must be born again in his conversation with Nicodemus.6 Salvation is not readily apparent as it is not physical in nature, but the moment an individual repents and trusts Jesus as their Lord and Savior, the dead spirit is made alive. This and this alone is what grants an individual access to heaven after death.

Body

Soul

Born Again Spirit

The soul is the real person and the physical body is merely a replica of the soul body. The soul is just as real in the spirit realm as your physical body on earth in the dimension in which we reside on earth. The soul and born again spirit will go to heaven when the physical body dies. The soul has a head, torso, arms, and legs.

Your personality, memory, skills, and ability to think and reason is located in the soul brain, not your physical brain. Your cognitive abilities take place in the soul brain, and once it finishes processing, then the decision is ferried over to the biological brain.

The soul is the real person, whereas the physical body just plays the part of the host. Think about an automobile for a second. A car sits lifeless until a driver gets in and takes control of its body. When the driver reaches the destination and exits the vehicle, the car sits in a form of stasis (death) until the driver returns and enters the vehicle.

The soul is the real you. Your physical body simply acts as a host for the soul, which needs a physical body to operate in the physical dimension.

The apostle John records people standing in front God’s throne with palms in their hands and singing praises to God.7The point I am making is that we won’t be a puff of smoke in heaven. John described people with arms and legs, the ability to speak, hear, and reason.

When the believers in Christ return with Jesus at the second coming, we will have resurrected physical bodies for use on earth during the millennial kingdom and later on in the new creation. These resurrected bodies will have the same ability as Jesus after His resurrection when He moved from the spirit world into the physical world.

Thus, all thinking takes place in the soul brain and the physical brain is governed by the soul, which runs the functions of the physical body. When a person sins, the processing is done by the soul brain and then ferried over to the physical brain. This is why Jesus stated that defilement does not come from what a person eats, but the sin originates from the soul.8

This means that when the physical body dies, it is put in a grave or cremated; that includes the physical brain. The soul is the real person and it is the soul and spirit that will go to heaven, when the body dies.

Thus, all thinking is done in the soul brain and that is the reason that when a person arrives in heaven, he has a soul body consisting of a head, torso, arms, hands, legs and feet. Inside the head is the soul brain. The head has a face, with a mouth, nose, eyes and ears.

All attributes that a person has is located in the soul brain which also contains all physical and spiritual gifts of the person. The physical brain is a computer that the soul brain must work through while on earth.

There is a spiritual law that states, that a soul can only live on earth as long as he has a physical body. Thus, my soul will make my physical body to take me to places on the earth, that I want to visit or work at. Currently when I am writing this, my soul brain is in contact with the Holy Spirit and then my thoughts are sent to my physical brain, that is directing my physical fingers to type it out on a computer key board.

If I want to go shopping in the nearest town, my soul could send my body walking down the road, but it takes a long time. I have an automobile that sits in the garage. This car is dead, until I get into the car with my soul and physical body and turn on the ignition key, and then the car becomes alive.

My soul brain instructs my physical brain how to operate the car and where I want to go. Here is what I am saying to you: Your physical body is your car and when your life is over on this earth, you leave the car and if you are saved you are flown to heaven. Your car/body is picked up by people from the morgue and in due time it is placed in a grave or cremated. Either way, you leave your physical body behind you.

ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT SPIRIT
The Arrested Development Spirit is the most dangerous and destructive evil spirit in the Kingdom of Satan because it operates in such a way that unless people have discernment, these types of spirits will go undetected. These demons prey on children from the moment of conception when something traumatic happens in the individual’s life. Fear opens the door for this spirit to enter the soul brain of a human being.

The beginning of human life starts when an egg in the mother is fertilized by sperm from the father. The fusion of sperm and egg is pivotal because it marks the moment of conception when two cells become one. In that instant God attaches a soul and spirit to the mix. The spirit dies instantly because of the mankind’s sinful nature.

Jesus designed the process of constructing a physical body in the womb of the mother to take approximately nine months. The soul that is attached to the newly formed cell is an adult soul, and from that instant, it can hear and process every event in the womb. If the mother is a Christian and in harmony with God, the baby’s soul will be happy and secure. If the father is also a Christian and speaks lovingly about the new life in the womb, that will make the baby’s soul even more secure.

My mother was only nineteen years old when she became pregnant with me. My dad was twenty-five years old and they were not married. The legal age at that in Sweden was twenty-one, effectively making my father guilty of statutory rape for having consensual sex with a minor.

Additionally, it was scandalous for an unmarried pregnancy in 1939 Sweden. Abortion was not legal, and later on as an adult, I learned there were heated discussions between my parents, and their parents about my future. I was an unwelcome burden that greatly upset my mother. My father’s side of the family shamed her for being promiscuous and I remember she was not treated well.

As an adult, I learned that an illegitimate or bastard is cursed – through no fault of mine own – by the sinful action of my parents.9 In the meantime, the spirit of fear gripped me and it ruled my life until I cast it out around thirty years old. This rejection by my mother and father traumatized me in the womb and opened the door for the spirit of Arrested Development to enter my soul, lock down my emotions, and kept me emotionally as a baby.

My parents married around the month of May, 1939 and I was born six months later. It is clear that I was conceived out of wedlock. I came into this world without physical defects, but I was a mess emotionally. As a toddler, they had to cover my hands every night because I would scratch my face to the point of bleeding.  I played war games with toys up to seventeen years old. When left alone in the house, I would play wargames and the different rooms became nations. I was so embarrassed one time when my younger brother came home and found me with all my stuff on the floor.

I struggled in school; I just could not make myself do homework even though I knew my dad would give me a beating if I came home with bad grades.  When I married Aina at the age of twenty, she took over where my mother had left off. I had an adult body, but the mind of a baby. However, God gifted me with a great memory and intelligence and I navigated for many years in this state.

At thirty years old during my first year in seminary, Aina and I met a Swedish pastor in San Francisco and he arranged a preaching tour for me two years later in Sweden. Another couple from the seminary came along, and during the third week of the tour, we arrived on the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea. The Swedish Baptist denomination had their annual meeting on this particular island and I was to be the keynote speaker.

Disaster struck on the way to the meeting as the other couple began to verbally attack Aina in the car ride and say she was a false prophetess. I was sitting in the front passenger seat and could hear her softly crying and wrath began to fill my soul over what was happening. Not thinking logically, I told myself that I was not preaching that night. And when I was introduced, I got up on the stage, spoke for a minute and then promptly sat down.10

The next such meltdown took place back at seminary we were preparing for crusade meetings in Sweden with a Gospel group from California. During a training session in the spring of 1971 at a church in Lincoln, California, I taught on Saturday morning about the love of God. After the session, I overheard one of my leaders, Chester, rip into Jim for something he had not fulfilled.

I had just spoken on love for an hour and something in me snapped at hearing those unkind words and I told Aina that we were leaving and immediately driving back to the seminary. It took two hours to return home and then I immediately undressed, put on pajamas, and got into bed. It was only noon and Aina begged me to get up, but I refused to leave the bed. I did not go to any classes and on the third day I remembered that we had ordered printed posters for the crusade meetings.

I asked Aina to call the printer, who was also a pastor, and he insisted on talking to me. I grudgingly got out of bed and this Pentecostal man started rebuking the demons to come out of me the moment he heard my voice. I listened in stunned silence and suddenly I snapped out of my funk and become normal again. That summer I preached to thousands of people in Germany up through Sweden and many were saved. The potential loss was averted by the discernment of a brave man and I am grateful for his unflinching action in that moment.

But the Devil was not done with me. The team leader that spoke the unkind words in the church at Lincoln became mad with the Swedish people and I found him cutting holes in the sides of the big tent we were using for the meetings. Once again, I shut down after telling him not to do such an evil thing.

I returned to the apartment where we were staying and went to bed. I told Aina I would not preach that night. I refused to see anyone and informed the local pastor I was done. He had to preach that night and the next day a group came and earnestly prayed for me. God reached into my troubled soul and I snapped out of the funk.

When we came back to California, I did some soul searching and tried to cast out more demons, but there was no one who could pinpoint my problems. It would be another twelve years before someone sent me an article about the Arrested Development Spirit.11 Years later I would go to write an article on the soul damage I experienced and what I witnessed over the years counseling men, women, children, and couples.12

THOSE AFFECTED
My experience is that most people in America are plagued by a spirit of Arrested Development. It can be traced back to the time television became a staple in every home. Parents thought it was so convenient to park their little ones in front of the television as a babysitter.

What do you think it does to the souls of young children seeing people beaten and murdered on television? Can they separate fact from fiction? Not at all. All the violent activity traumatizes a child and creates fear in their souls. The Arrested Development spirit seizes the opportunity and enters the child, effectively locking down its soul, essentially stunting all emotional development.

Divorce is a golden opportunity for this type of spirit. During countless sessions of deliverance, individuals can pinpoint the decay in their life beginning with parental divorce. Other incidents like being involved in a traffic accident can create fear and trauma. A child bitten by a dog creates a trauma.

Most pastors and marriage counselors do not take into account the Arrested Development spirit; they are ignorant about demons. Most Christians involved in marriage counseling avoid talking about the spirit world since they have been taught that demons do not exist despite the propensity of stories in the four gospels. That is one of the reasons why the divorce rate is now between 40-50% for first marriages, 60-67% for second marriages, 73% for third marriages.

My experience as a counselor had shown me that children marry children and they in turn become parents of children. Emotionally, they are not able to handle the pressure of marriage and this is why divorce follows. The Arrested Development spirit is causing havoc in the United States.

LIFE TRAUMAS
A trauma is an incident that creates great fear in an individual. When a child is attacked by a dog and bitten, great fear washes over that child. Evil spirits who are ever present open the door to the person’s soul for an Arrested Development spirit, locking down the section of the soul that controls emotions. The individual is now frozen in time and ceases to develop emotionally.

Trauma can come from different events which cause damage to the soul brain such as a divorce, a parent dies, car accident, rejection by people, etc. Traumatic events in the life of an individual will cause the soul brain to be damaged. When this occurs, it is not uncommon for the soul brain to cause sickness to develop in the physical body since the individual is not in harmony with themselves, and in some cases, they begin to hate the person in the mirror.

STEPS OF DELIVERANCE
Here is a basic outline how our ministry does deliverance and will provide you with the success you desire:

1. Speak with a counselor regarding your views on casting out demons and what you are expecting. The intake interview can take up to an hour.

2. Schedule your deliverance session.

3. Prerequisites

a. Go through the required materials beforehand.
b. Type out your biography so that the counselors can identify areas of your life that need to be addressed. It is due four weeks prior to the date of your deliverance.
c. Go through the curse list as it relates to you.

4. The time frame for the deliverance session is approximately one (1) week and consists of the following:

a. Making sure you are aligned with the Word of God.
b. Identifying biblical curses in your life.
c. Breaking curses, family or generational curses, dealing with traumas, and ungodly soul ties.

INTAKE INTERVIEW
The intake interview is where you speak with a counselor, getting to know our ministry, and the methods we use to successfully set people free from demons so that they can have the abundant life promised by Jesus.

SCHEDULING DELIVERANCE
Due to the small nature of our ministry, we try not to overload our schedule. This means that there can be a significant wait time. Please keep this in mind as the counselors will postpone your deliverance if the prerequisites are not met.

PREREQUISITES
You must have a Bible. It is impossible to go through the deliverance process without knowing what God says about the spirit realm, casting out demons, and personal responsibility.

While we do not charge for deliverance, we do require that you purchase the following materials:

1. Christian Dynamics Course 113

2. The God of the Old Testament14

a. Book + 5 CD’s
b. Book + 5 DVD’s

Please note that these are the only costs you will incur from us. We do not charge for the deliverance process or the counseling afterwards. These inexpensive materials, in conjunction with the Bible, will be used extensively by your counselors.

BIOGRAPHY
We have been active in casting out demons for half a century. During this time this ministry has established a procedure that works well. It should be noted that there are other ministries which employ different methods; however, if you are seeking help from us, you will be required to submit to our approach.

The process begins with submitting a written copy of your biography that chronologically details sinful incidents and traumas in your life. The counselors need your account in order to effectively help you.

Be sure to detail incidents and traumas and this will help ensure that your deliverance is successful. Examples of traumas would be occultism, disturbances, attacks, molestations, abuse, addictions, etc.

Please also include what you know about your family, going back as far as you can. Include any generational curses that you know about. The more we know about you, the better we can help guide you through this process. Detailed instructions on this matter can be found in Christian Dynamics Course 1, pp. 299-300.

Your biography must be emailed four (4) weeks prior to your deliverance. The counselors will defer your appointment if this prerequisite is not met on time.

Any information you divulge is confidential and will not be shared. The paperwork generated for you will be shredded at the conclusion of the deliverance.

CURSE LIST
Read through the curse list as it relates to you, your family history, health issues, and soul ties. See Christian Dynamics Course 1, pp. 121-149 for more information.

THE BIBLE
Our belief system is based upon the Bible. Nothing more and nothing less. We believe the King James Bible is the most accurate translation of the Bible from the Hebrew and Greek texts.

BIBLE ACCURACY
Imagine that you have the chance to earn a large sum of money by carefully following a set of instructions. All you have to do is follow them precisely! There is just one problem, they are written in a language you cannot read. You need a translator and have to choose between two very different approaches.

The first translator is an old conservative who wants to translate the words as directly as possible from the first language to yours. It will be up to you to read the result carefully and follow it.

The other translator goes one step further. He will render a translation which best describes his understanding of how the author wanted you to carry out the instructions. Written as a paraphrase, it will be easy to read and follow. There is just one catch, you must trust that his understanding agrees with what the author intended, or you will fail and end up with nothing.

Which translator will you choose? Do you want to know exactly what the instructions say, or will you trust the second translator’s ability to understand the author’s intent and not lead you astray?

Selecting a Bible version involves the same kind of choice. There are two basic approaches, formal equivalency and dynamic equivalency. Bibles translated by formal equivalency will take careful reading. At times, you will have to study history to learn the cultural background before you can fully understand the text.

The translator is simply rendering the text in your language, but at the same time, you have the confidence of knowing that you are not trusting another man’s understanding or theology, allowing you to make up your mind what God wants. In the English language, the King James Version is the only Bible that has been translated using this approach.

Bibles translated by dynamic equivalency will read as easily as a novel. When a story seems difficult to understand without a little history, the author may even change it to a form he believes you will better understand! You will never know for sure what God said and you must trust the translator’s theology to lead you into truth. The translator is acting as a teacher, not just telling you what God said, but adding his understanding of what God meant!

Many Christians have developed the vital habit of reading the Bible text as they listen to a teacher explain it. They always judge the teaching by the written word. After all, the teacher is just a man, and can make mistakes. It’s vital to know exactly what God has stated.

But what can you do if the Bible in your hand doesn’t provide you with God’s Word and is simply a teacher’s explanation of God’s intent? You have no authority that you can trust to judge the teaching.

Formal equivalency is just one of the reasons the King James Bible is the superior English translation. The translators were determined not to tell you God’s intent, just convey His words, and let you come to your own conclusion.

It is the translator’s job to tell you what God said. It is the teacher’s job to tell you how to understand and apply it to your life. Always insist on a Bible that gives you God’s words, so you have an absolute upon which to judge everything else.

COMPREHENDING THE LAW OF GOD
Jesus is the Son of God. He is eternal and part of the Godhead. Jesus is the Creator and Lawgiver of the Old Testament. There is a false teaching that God the Father is the God of the Old Testament and Jesus is the God of the New Testament. It is essential to understand who Jesus is and what His role was in the past and will be in the future; hence, the prerequisite to purchase “The God of the Old Testament.”

When Jesus walked on the earth some 2,000 years ago, the priests and the scribes had divided the Old Testament into three parts:

1) The Law
2) The Prophets
3) The Writings

Jesus accepted this division. (Matthew 5:17-18) The Law was further divided into yet another three parts:

A. The Moral Law
B. The Practical Law
C. The Sacrificial Law

Jesus fulfilled the stipulations of the Sacrificial Law, but all the aspects of the Moral Law and Practical Law are still applicable today. You will find the full teaching on this subject in Christian Dynamics Course 1, pp. 71-79

Breaking just one of God’s commandments will open the door for evil spirits to come and lodge in your soul and body. Evil spirits or demons have a legal right to take up residence in a person when God’s spiritual laws have been violated. In order to cast out the demons, it is necessary to remove their legal right to stay in your body. This is done by breaking all the curses in the Bible that are relevant to you. See Christian Dynamics Course 1, pp. 121-149 for further information.

ADDICTIONS
You must first be willing to admit that you have an addiction. You are required to give up substance abuse such as alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, etc. This does not cover medicine prescribed by a doctor.

If you are not willing to give up your addictions prior to deliverance, we won’t be able to help you because you are in violation of God’s spiritual laws. The counselors cannot arbitrarily override God’s commandments. For this reason, all addictions must be given up at the time of deliverance.

“Come as you are” is a common phrase that people attribute to Jesus but it is not found in the Bible. It is merely a religious statement given as an excuse for hanging onto addictions.

GOD DOES NOT UNDERSTAND
Another religious phrase not found in the Bible is “God understands.” Any person coming to Jesus – regardless of the problem – must repent and be willing to surrender the addiction(s). The rich young ruler that came to Jesus was told to sell everything, give the money to the poor, and then follow Jesus. The Son of God watched this young man walk away. Jesus did not try to negotiate with him. It was all or nothing. (Matthew 19:16-23)

Most ministers today do not uphold the teachings of Jesus, and in order to justify their actions, they come up with all kinds of doctrines. A person who has a problem with sexual sin, addiction, eating food not on God’s menu, etc., will go pastor shopping until he finds someone to agree with him.

SUMMARY
Remember that deliverance is about a lifestyle change. It is not a quick fix, but a process that takes time and dedication. You must align yourself with the Word of God if you want to be delivered from demons. The choice is yours to make.
