MY SPIRITUAL LINEAGE
My parents lived next door to a Pentecostal church in Huskvarna, Sweden when I was three years old. The year was 1942 and the Germans were winning World War II. Pastor Johansson and his wife had several children, and since there was only a hedge between our backyards, it was easy to slip through and play with the children next door. I was a fearless child and one day I walked up the stairs to the second floor of the church where the pastor’s office was located.
I am sure that I interrupted whatever Pastor Johansson was doing, but instead of kicking me out, he took the time to talk with me. I remember looking at a replica painting of the Marriage Supper of the Lamb described in Revelation 19:5-9. I asked him what the picture was about and he explained the event to me. When he finished, I remember telling him that I would be there. That was my first commitment to Christ.
I returned to Sweden 29 years later in 1971 as an evangelist. I knew that Pastor Johansson had passed away and I wanted to connect with his children to talk about their father. The Holy Spirit opened the way and I discovered one of his sons, Sam, still lived in Huskvarna and I was able to meet with him.
When we met, Sam started to cry and when he told me that his father had been given an elaborate prophecy when I was in his office at the age of three. He said that part of the prophecy was that I was going to become a preacher and live in the United States. He said that this was the reason he was crying, realizing the truth of the prophetic insight given to his father.
I asked him to share the rest of the prophecy, but he declined to do so, fearing that I might take actions that would destroy it. I would go on to reconnect with Sam several times during the next decade, but he never revealed the rest of the story.
God is supreme and nothing happens by chance. God selected me from the foundation of the world to born again. What he has done for me; he will do for you. I know that I just opened a can of worms for some people, but stick with me and I will alleviate any anxiety you have over predestination.
My grandmother, Justina Thorell, was a born again Christian and deeply devoted to Christ. I was her first grandchild and she prayed fervently for me to be saved and serve God.
When I was just a few weeks old, I was baptized through sprinkling according to the Lutheran State Church doctrine. My aunt, Evy Thorell, held me in her arms during the baptism and dedicated me to the ministry, asking God to make me a preacher.
Three years later I walked into Pastor Johansson’s office and God gave him a prophecy. I am grateful he took the time to answer the sincere questions of a little boy.
I believe that my soul was saved that day in the pastor’s office and a year later a Sunday school teacher led me in a prayer for salvation, allowing me to understand salvation.
Grandmother Justina, Aunt Evy, Pastor Johansson, and my Sunday school teacher all had a hand in having my name written in the Book of Life.
The house that we lived in was built by my grandparents, Emil and Justina Thorell, around 1900. When the house was built, the plot of land next door was a vacant lot, and the church would not come into being until 1929-30.
The Pentecostal church in Huskvarna was founded by Swedish Baptists who had met a Baptist pastor named Lewi Petrus. He traveled to Oslo, Norway in 1907, where he attended a church pastored by T.B. Barratt, who had been part of the 1906 Azusa Street revival. Barratt was baptized in the Holy Spirit and returned to Norway in December of 1906 whereupon He began to excitedly preach the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
The spiritual fire spread to Lewi Petrus and he returned to Sweden sharing the same message, which led to the foundation of the Pentecostal church in Huskvarna.
The Godhead carefully designs souls and knows who will accept Christ. Select men and women are placed in families that will nourish them and lead them to salvation.
This is the first time I have traced the circumstances leading to my salvation and it is apparent that I have spiritual lineage stemming from the great Azusa revival.
VARIOUS VESSELS
Paul was the most educated of the apostles when it came to Old Testament theology and he explained the doctrines of the Godhead. In his letter to the Romans, he set forth the doctrine of predestination and the calling that each person has on their life.
When Rebecca conceived, she became pregnant with twins. Before they were born, God had already selected Jacob to be the heir in the lineage of Abraham before the foundation of the world.
“For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sara shall have a son.
And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;
(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)
It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.” (Romans 9:9-12)
I struggled with the doctrine of predestination in the past and one day the Holy Spirit showed me that the Godhead had done a virtual time run of the creation from the beginning to the end. This action allowed God to witness the decisions of the angels and the humans.1
God saw in the virtual time run that Esau despised his birthright whereas Jacob prioritized the bloodline of Abraham. The apostle Paul discussed this subject, and if we understand the virtual time run makes perfect sense.
“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.” (Romans 8:29-30)
This brings us to the subject of souls sent to earth and inserted into the impregnated cell coming from the sexual union of a man and woman. Realizing that a vast majority of people on the earth are not born again, I want to examine statistics of the different pagan religions compared to Christianity.
• Christianity 28.8%
• Islam 25.6%
• Unaffiliated 24.2%
• Hinduism 14.9%
• Buddhism 4.1%
• Other religions 2.4%
The Christian denominations see the following representation:
• Roman Catholicism 50.1%
• Protestant churches 39.8%
• Eastern Orthodox churches 11%
The protestant churches consist of Lutherans, Episcopal, Methodists, Baptists, Pentecostals, Evangelicals, smaller denominations, and non-denominational churches. Statistics reveal that 71.2% of humans are outright pagans. While Protestants represent just 11.47% of Christianity’s 28.8% share, the number is much worse – 88.53% – when factoring in Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox practitioners who are not born again.
Only Evangelical, Baptist, Pentecostal churches teach that a person must be born again to attain heaven after death. The 11.47% is further reduced when taking into account the people playing at churchianity.
That means that 88.53% of souls coming to earth are sent to pagan parents. Their chance of hearing the Gospel is slim.
In comparison, only a small percentage of souls arrive to born again families.
Is it fair that the majority of souls are doomed? That question is impossible to answer without the correct knowledge and will be answered below.
CATACLYSMIC EVENT
Lucifer rejected his position in heaven as a cherub and started a rebellion against God. He convinced one third of the angels to join his insurrection. This was a cataclysmic event that unleased a war on such huge scale that it is difficult to process and understand the ramifications because this revolt literally shook heaven and the universe.
“And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” (Revelation 12:7-9)
Following Lucifer’s defeat, there was a trial in which he and other fallen angels were sentenced to the Lake of Fire.
“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.” (Matthew 25:41)
THE AFTERMATH
Lucifer responded by sowing doubt in the minds of the angels – holy and unholy – when he questioned God’s righteousness. The sentence was stayed as Lucifer and his minions were confined and earth became a prison planet.
The Godhead began to unravel a divine plan – conceived in eternity past – to prove their righteousness. The human race was created to afford Lucifer the opportunity to tempt Adam and Eve.
When they sinned, the Son of God started to reveal the redemption plan for mankind and allowed Lucifer to challenge every move of God from that point in time until the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.
The church was formed after the resurrection, and from the day of Pentecost until the millennial kingdom, Lucifer is going to be allowed to contest every believer in Christ and every work of God on the earth.
“But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” (Romans 3:21-26)
Lucifer will be given an opportunity to rule the earth during the reign of the Antichrist, and at the end of the thousand-year kingdom, he will be afforded one last chance to tempt the people born during this time period.
At this point, the righteousness of God will have been sufficiently proven and Lucifer and his minions will be cast into the Lake of Fire.
“And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” (Revelation 20:7-10)
CONSEQUENCE OF SIN
Sin has brought certain ramifications against humanity:
• Adam and Eve’s choice to rebel against Jesus set humanity on a course of sin and death.
• The failure of Noah and his sons to set up a godly educational program saw future generations filled with Lucifer’s ideas, resulting in a plethora of empty religions.
• God the Father is obligated to send a soul to earth for every human conceived from the sexual union of a man and woman. The Godhead knows that the majority of these souls will perish in the Lake of Fire.
THE RESCUE PLAN
Let’s circle back to that vexing question from page three. Is it fair that the majority of souls are doomed? Jesus was appointed before the foundation of the world to be incarnated and crucified for the sins of the humanity to counter the horrible outcome of perishing eternally.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” (John 3:16-17)
“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:8)
“In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” (1 John 4:9-10)
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” (2 Corinthians 5:17-21)
Jesus has commanded all Christians to spread out and preach the Gospel to those who are perishing in order to counter the terrible loss of souls.
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
