GOD REACHED DOWN
The Bible says that God the Father loved humanity enough to send His Son to pay for our sins. Jesus didn’t come to judge mankind and make you feel rotten about your fallen condition, but to give us a chance at something far greater than anything this world has to offer. John 3:16-17; Romans 5:6-8; 2 Peter 3:9
THE BIG SECRET
The redemptive work of Jesus was a closely guarded secret kept between the Godhead; the redemption plan was not shared with the angels since a third of them would switch sides and become the enemy. 1 Corinthians 2:7-8
The Bible says that Jesus was slain in eternity past. This event predated the creation of the angels and humanity. This means that although the crucifixion wouldn’t take place until later, it was still planned long ago. This is an example of the far-reaching knowledge of God in relation to our linear timeline. Revelation 13:8
The apostle Paul provides even more proof that Jesus coming to the earth to redeem mankind was anticipated prior to the creation. 2 Timothy 1:9-10
This means that that the Godhead was not surprised when Adam and Eve sinned. They had already accounted for that event since they are not linear beings like the angels and humanity. They exist outside of time and this is why nothing surprises the Godhead; they have already seen the entire timeline.
OUR SECURITY IN JESUS
Paul continues to expound on the hidden mystery of the Messiah and how Jesus is the hope of every person on earth. We have an opportunity to have an amazing life on earth – but not necessarily one that is easy – and then heaven awaits us. Colossians 1:26- 27
Adam’s sin brought death to the human race. Jesus offers eternal life to anyone who is willing to repent. Romans 6:23
The love of God is so strong that no force in the universe is able to separate us from our Savior. Romans 8:38-39
Jesus gives you eternal life at the moment of salvation. This is why Martin Luther became so angry with the Roman Catholic Church because they had perverted the doctrine of the Bible to fit their selfish agenda. 1 John 5:11-13; Romans 10:9-13
Salvation is entirely a work of God. It was preordained in eternity past by the Godhead. Ephesians 2:8-10
Jesus is holding onto you. No one – not even you – can take you out of Jesus’ hand. This means it is impossible to lose your salvation because Jesus won’t let you go. John 10:27-30
Conversely, this means you could never regain your salvation if you lost it because Jesus would have to be crucified a second time and that’s not going to happen.
Hebrews 6:4-6
Human beings love secrets, conspiracies, and the struggle of good versus evil. That’s what this message is about. It’s an account of when God reached down to fallen man, but the narrative doesn’t start there. It predates the angels which Adam knew nothing about.
The irony is that Lucifer thought he knew the whole plan, but there were elements of the story that were even hidden from him. He thought that God’s creation hinged on the angels, but they were simply a precursor to humanity, and mankind would be the object lesson God used to teach the angels about love and redemption. Hebrews 12:2
Now that you know the backstory, it should give you an even greater appreciation for why God the Father reached down and sent God the Son to redeem mankind.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
Remember, it’s not so important how you begin your life after salvation, but how you finish it!
