DEMON GODS
The name Tammuz appears only once in the Bible. The majority of Christians are ignorant of this demon god and how he was worshiped. Some of the customs of Tammuz worship have survived from the time of Noah after the flood.
Satan has a religious department in the spirit world to create doctrines that are contrary to the Bible. Tammuz is the oldest pagan religion created by fallen angels, and even if the worship of Tammuz is not practiced openly, it has been woven into the Christian faith despite the fact that God specifically instructed the people of Israel not to learn from the pagans. Deuteronomy 18:9-14
WHAT EZEKIEL SAW
Jesus showed Ezekiel the abomination of the 70 elders worshipping Lucifer as part of the teaching of the Kabbalah. Ezekiel 8:11-12
The twisted teaching of the Kabbalah is horrible but Jesus wanted to show Ezekiel an even greater abomination that featured women sitting at the gate of the temple and weeping for Tammuz. verses 13-14
WHO WAS TAMMUZ?
I realize there are two major opinions on Tammuz. The Encyclopedia Britannica, Wikipedia and some Christian websites agree that Tammuz was a Sumerian god of fertility. He was also known as “Dumuzi” in the Mesopotamian religion. The worship of Tammuz spread to Assyria sometime after 2000 B.C.
The religion of Tammuz had two festivals according to the aforementioned sources. The first one celebrated his marriage to the goddess Inanna from February to March. The second festival March to April was when his death was observed.1
Thus, the secular sources do not reveal how Tammuz was worshiped, only that the women were to weep for him during the second festival.
ALEXANDER HISLOP
Alexander Hislop (1807-1865) was a minister in the Free Church of Scotland. He wrote a book entitled, The Two Babylons: Papal Worship Proved to be the Worship of Nimrod and His Wife in 1858. He exposed Tammuz and condemned the Roman Catholic Church. Hislop was accused of being a sloppy researcher, making assumptions that could not be substantiated. Most secular sources on the Internet, including some Christians, strongly debunk his book.
The secret Kabbalistic world government became furious with Hislop’s book since it directly contradicted the new German theology that would go on to destroy the foundation of the Christian churches in Europe and the United States. The two major proponents of this new damnable theology were Friedrich Schleiermacher (1768-1834) and Georg W. F. Hegel (1770-1831). “Higher Criticism” came into existence through these two men and other contemporary theologians and it became the destructive tool of Satan to destroy faith in the Bible.
The Kabbalistic world government had been plotting to produce a new version of the New Testament in Greek which would be used for future Bible translations in the United States. Two renegade Anglican ministers named Brooke Foss Westcott (1825–1901) and Fenton John Anthony Hort (1828–1892) produced the new Greek version of the New Testament in 1881. Their bastard translation reads like someone went on a magic marker binge involving some 5,600 Bible verses. Those modifications to the Textus Receptus involved omission (35%), addition (8%), and changes (57%).2
In 1898 the German theologian Eberhard Nestle used the Greek text from Westcott and Hort to produce a new variant in 1898 of the New Testament known as the Nestle text. Wescott and Hort omitted 1,952 words in their bastard translation and the Nestle text went even further by omitting another 934 words for a total of 2,886 words. That’s the equivalent of erasing the books of First Peter and Second Peter!3
The New International Version (NIV) and all other modern versions used by many churches came from these bastard Greek texts. These watered-down Bibles – if one can call them that – have done much harm to the Christian faith and produced the modern lukewarm seeker friendly churches with milquetoast pastors like Joel Osteen.
RALPH E. WOODROW
I met Ralph Woodrow in the early 1990’s when both of us were speaking at a seminar in the Los Angeles area that was organized and sponsored by Jerry Nordskog. Woodrow had written a book in 1966 entitled, Babylon Mystery Religion: Ancient and Modern.4 His book was built upon Alexander Hislop’s book from 1858 and it opened a whole new perspective for me. Woodrow gave me permission to use three chapters from his book in our booklet, The Truth About Christmas.5
Woodrow radically changed his position in 1994 with Christmas Reconsidered, the trend continued with Easter: Is it Pagan? (1996) and The Babylon Connection (1997). Why such a radical change? Woodrow grew in prominence until the different denominational establishments became aware of his message and it became necessary to compromise in order to maintain his speaking engagements in the churches.
Sometime in the late 1990s I received a terse letter from Woodrow stating that he had changed his position on Christmas and did not want his three chapters included with our booklet anymore. I was shocked and tried to find out why he had recanted, but he never responded to my letters. As a result, we removed Woodrow’s material and I covered the story of Tammuz, including the traditions of Christmas and Easter.
You might be wondering what this historical review has to do with the prophet Ezekiel? The battle against idolatry has not changed over time. It is the same today as it was some 2,590 years ago. The Kabbalistic leaders back then had the same agenda as their modern offspring.
THE STORY OF TAMMUZ
The time from the day that Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit until Noah’s flood was 1,676 years. During that period, fallen angels taught humanity to mine gold, silver, copper, and iron. They also taught them how to melt ore to make weapons. People living before the flood knew how to write, read, and do arithmetic. They built cities and recorded the sale and transfer of property.
When Noah and his family emerged from the ark after the global flood, they were not Stone Age, but well educated. It did not take long before cities were built again and with that came weapons of war and kingdoms.
The Bible states that Nimrod was a mighty hunter. In reality, he was not hunting animals, but was building a kingdom and the city of Babel. In doing so, he killed any person that opposed him. Genesis 10:8-10
This is the religion of Tammuz according to legends and some historical records:
Nimrod proclaimed himself king and ruled out of Babel. He married a woman named Semiramis and she became his queen. Nimrod was killed and he became the sun god or the moon god depending upon the source.
Semiramis claimed that Nimrod came down from the sun/moon and made her pregnant. The day on which the baby was born, there was a piece of an evergreen tree in the room and it came alive and sprouted. Thus, the evergreen tree became an item that is worshiped in the Tammuz religion.
Tammuz grew up and became co-regent with his mother until he was murdered and went into the netherworld. The people who worshiped Semiramis as the Queen of Heaven wept and mourned for Tammuz for a period of 40 days. He was miraculously raised from dead sometime between the end of March and the beginning of April.
WHAT EZEKIEL SAW
After Ezekiel had seen the 70 elders in the temple, he also saw women weeping for Tammuz. Ezekiel 8:13-14
The weeping for Tammuz was considered a greater sin than the 70 elders worshiping Lucifer. Why? Because the worship of Tammuz was of a person who had been killed and supposedly resurrected. No human can be resurrected from the dead except by God or Satan. John 11:21-26; Revelation 13:2-4
THE POLLUTION OF GOD’S PEOPLE
By the time Jesus was incarnated, the religion of Tammuz had spread into the Roman Empire. People were supposed to fast for 40 days to get Tammuz up from the dead during the month of March. His resurrection took place about the same time that the Hebrews celebrated the Passover and the born-again Christians celebrated the resurrection of Jesus.
When the majority of Christian bishops voted to install Emperor Constantine as the head of the Christian church in 325 A.D. and effectively created a Roman state church, they had to make a decision about the pagan traditions. Could they be stamped out?
The leadership of the newly formed Roman Catholic Church came to the conclusion that forcing new converts to give up their idolatry would not work.
Constantine wanted all of Rome’s citizens to become members of the state church. The single requirement of the Apostolic church was that people needed to be born again.
This core doctrine was discarded in favor of ecumenism. Millions became members of the state church, but they were still heathens.
Getting the unsaved masses to part with their idol worship became a political problem and the solution was to “Christianize” the heathen festivals. Thus, the state church dictated that “weeping for Tammuz” would be changed to a “40 day fast” called Lent.
Since the heathens celebrated the birth of Tammuz toward the end of December, the state church decreed that Jesus was also born on December 25. The festival was named “Christ mass.”
Jesus was resurrected during the time of the Jewish Passover; the state church decreed that the celebration of the resurrection of Tammuz would be replaced with Easter. It was set to follow the Roman calendar, not the observation of the Jewish Passover, and that is why Easter fluctuates so that during some years it is the same week as the Passover.
Simply renaming the heathen festivals and inserting the name of Jesus did nothing to satisfy the masses of unsaved church members. As a result, the leadership of the state church allowed all the pagan traditions from different heathen religions to be incorporated into Christmas and Easter. If you want to know more about the subject, The Truth about Christmas provides more information on the subject of pagan traditions.6
SUMMARY
The religion of Tammuz has morphed into the annual traditions of Christmas and Easter and all their pagan practices were incorporated, just under different labels. Thus, the idolatry that God pointed out to Ezekiel is still with us some 2,600 years later.
God was furious with the people of Judah and He has not changed His mind today. He still hates the idolatrous practices! Very few Christians realize the extent of the pagan traditions in our churches and God won’t bless a church that – knowingly or unknowingly – practices idolatry.
Denominations are not going to change and remove pagan traditions from their churches. As a result, they are spiritually weak. If we compare modern churches with churches listed in the Book of Acts, the conclusion is that modern churches are Laodicean in nature. Revelation 3:14-22
