A MEETING IN HEAVEN
The Godhead paused the virtual time run after the captivity of King Jehoiachin. They realized that the free will of the Judeans had been used to corrupt themselves with the worship of Baal and veneration of the Queen of Heaven.
The Godhead allowed King Nebuchadnezzar to capture Jerusalem and take the king, nobles, the brightest of the youth, and a number of others to Babylon. The temple would be stripped of some of its fixtures. This would be a shock treatment for the people of Judah and the Godhead wanted the remainder to use their free will to return to the Lord.
The plan was carried out in 597 B.C. 2 Kings 24:8-16
The Godhead then began a countdown to give the remaining Jews and their vassal king (Zedekiah) time to repent and turn back to the Lord. Two prophets would provide spiritual leadership to the Jews in Babylon and those left in Judah.
1. Daniel was a teenager who rejected idolatry and was fully committed to God. Daniel 1:3-8
2. Ezekiel was an older Levite who had been trained as a priest and he too was totally committed to the Lord. Ezekiel 1:1-3
The ten-year grace period was kept secret from Lucifer and his minions, but also from the two prophets.
The people of Judah were a stiff-necked people that stayed true to their sinful rebellion no matter how much the Godhead punished them. They more or less forced the Lord to humble them with the destruction of Jerusalem and its hallowed temple. Zedekiah was blinded and force marched to Babylon with the large segment of the population.
THE PROPHET EZEKIEL
Ezekiel was activated five years later as a prophet and no other man received special treatment such as seeing angelic craft coming down from heaven surrounded by another craft which contained the portable throne of Jesus.
Ezekiel had seen birds but never anything like this since electricity, airplanes, engines and rockets had not been discovered by humanity.
He tried to describe what he saw to the best of his ability because he realized this craft was from the spirit world. verses 4-28
Jesus told Ezekiel that he was to go to the rebellious people of Judah and give them a warning of pending judgment. Ezekiel 2:1-10
Obedience is the key for God’s people and Ezekiel was told to eat the scroll in Jesus’ hand. Ezekiel 3:1-3
Then he was commissioned to go to the house of Israel and fearlessly declare what Jesus had told him. verses 4-11
Jesus wanted to make a strong impression upon the prophet that he would never forget and Ezekiel was placed in the portable throne craft and transported to the city/village of Telabib.
Ezekiel was shocked to see Jesus and hear Him speaking to him. He was astonished at the different crafts shown to him as it was beyond anything he had ever seen.
Ezekiel did not speak to or have any conversations with the Jews that he had been dropped by for the next seven days. verses 12-15
FORMAL CALLING
Then Jesus spoke again and gave him the title, “Watchman unto the House of Israel.” verses 16-17
Jesus told Ezekiel that when the Godhead uttered a warning to the wicked, should Ezekiel fail to pass on the warning, the curse would be laid on him. verses 18-21
The warning Jesus spoke to Ezekiel, also applies to all of God’s people and it has become known as the curse of not warning the wicked.
HARDENING PROCESS
Jesus told Ezekiel to go to the valley and He would speak more to the prophet. verses 22-23
Jesus knew that Ezekiel would be the spearpoint in the battle against Lucifer and his forces and the Son of God wanted to harden the prophet so that he would always do what he was told, not looking to the left or the right, and certainly never looking back. verses 24-27
SUMMARY
The Godhead knew there were five years remaining in the grace period. They wanted a prophet that was fiercely loyal to them and absolutely fearless. This type of combat training is not joyous, but painful and hard to endure. The end result is a prophet that no man or devil can intimidate. It comes at a steep cost that few Christians are willing to pay. Matthew 10:32-39
