SELECTION OF A DELIVERER
The Godhead paused the virtual time run after the Hebrews had been in Egypt for 430 years. Abraham had been told some 500 years earlier that his descendants would be afflicted in Egypt for 400 years and that they could not be brought into the Promised Land until the sins of the Amorites reached a certain level and then their judgment and destruction would begin. Genesis 15:13, 16

The Godhead had seen and heard the cries of the afflicted Hebrews. A leader from Levi’s bloodline was selected before Jacob and his family moved to Egypt and all future priests would be pulled from this tribe.

The Godhead had seen that Levi would have three sons: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

It is likely that Levi was around 50 years old when he came to Egypt with his father and lived some 87 years in Egypt.

Kohath lived to 133 years old. He was also selected to be in the bloodline for the future deliverer. Kohath in turn had 4 sons: Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel. Exodus 6:16- 18

The Godhead selected Amram to be in the bloodline of the future deliverer. For some reason, Amram married his father’s sister, Jochebed, whose name means “the glory of Jehovah.” Exodus 6:20

Amram and Jochebed had two sons: Aaron and Moses. Amram lived 137 years. His only daughter was Miriam. Exodus 6:20; 15:20

• Levi (1st generation) 137 years

• Kohath (2nd generation) 133 years

• Amram (3rd generation) 137 years

• Moses (4th generation) 120 years

EDUCATING MOSES
As the Godhead resumed the virtual time run, they knew that Jochebed was a physically strong woman. She had no problem with the births of Aaron and Miriam, but by the time Moses was born, the order had come for all Hebrew baby boys to be put to death. The Godhead realized they had to intervene and the Holy Spirit instructed Jochebed how to save Moses with Miriam watching over the basket. Exodus 2:1-4

The Holy Spirit also moved upon Pharaoh’s daughter to come to the river shortly after Moses had been placed in the ark. Her soul was moved and she instantly loved baby Moses, going as far to pay Jochebed to nurse her own baby. verses 5-9

At this point of history, the weaning of a child ended at the age five. Moses was no longer taking his mother’s milk and he would have been potty trained as well. Moses would have received instruction that he was a Hebrew from the lineage of Abraham. verse 10

The Godhead knew that the Hebrew’s were family clans and not a nation. These twelve tribes were not warriors and had no idea how to function as a nation. They were simply a bunch of hard working slaves just trying to survive in life.

As the adopted son to Pharaoh’s daughter, Moses was second in line to the throne of Egypt and was therefore put through a rigorous education program. He learned about governing, politics, justice, and warfare. Acts 7:20-22

MOVING FROM THE PALACE
By the time Moses was 40 years old, he had spent 35 years as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, and it was time to move him on to the next point. The Holy Spirit put it on his mind to visit Goshen and check on his ancestors. Acts 7:23

As a skilled warrior, he killed an Egyptian task master and mistakenly thought the Hebrew people would realize the great prince from the palace had come to save them. But the Hebrews did not like the cocky prince and Moses fled into the wilderness when he heard that Pharaoh had turned on him. Acts 7:24-29; Exodus 2:11-15

LEARNING HUMILITY
The Godhead had already prepared the next instructor for Moses. He was a priest in Midian by the name of Reuel (Jethro). The Holy Spirit prepared a divine appointment with Moses and the daughters of Jethro at a well, similar to when Abraham’s servant met Rebecca at Haran.

Moses stopped at the well and the seven daughters of Jethro showed up to water their flock and return with water to their dwelling place. Exodus 2:15-16

Rival shepherds told the seven women to wait until they watered their flocks first. Moses became angry and being well trained warrior, he drove them away and helped Jethro’s daughters to water their flock, who got so excited that they just left Moses at the well and returned home. Jethro told them to go back and invite Moses for the evening meal. verses 17-20

Jethro was so impressed by Moses that he offered Zipporah as a wife and recruited him to be a shepherd, a job that was to last 40 years. verses 21-22

SUMMARY
The story of Moses shows the level of control the Godhead exercises over their creation in the virtual time run. God did not want the Hebrews organizing themselves into a nation with a king. They remained as family clans for 400 years with no central leadership.

The Godhead wanted a strong leader when the time came for them to leave Egypt. Circumstances were created and a baby boy named Moses was chosen to be educated in the palace of a Pharaoh who hated the Hebrews. When the time arrived to extract

Moses, circumstances were created and he was safely deposited in Midian out of Pharaoh’s reach.

During the 40 years spent in the wilderness herding sheep, Moses lost any arrogance and became a broken man. He lost all ambition and thought his life would end as a shepherd. God did not reveal Himself during this time and Jethro taught Moses about God, the creation and Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He learned there would be some kind of Redeemer at the end of time that would save humanity from their sins, but just like Job, he did not know the details. Job 19:23-27

Remember, it’s not so important how you begin your life after salvation, but how you finish it!
