ASSESSING THE SITUATION
After the rebellion of Korah was put down by Jesus, the Godhead paused the virtual time run because they realized the descendants of Abraham were unable to stand against Lucifer and his minions. Aaron had failed miserably when he fashioned the golden calf and led the people into idolatry. Exodus 32:8

Joshua and Caleb were the only men apart from Moses that loved God and rejected the overtures of the Devil.

The human race was placed on a different time system so that a day for the Godhead was a thousand years for mankind. 2 Peter 3:8

We can figure out heaven’s time by dividing 1,000 years by 24 hours:

• One hour with God is 41.67 years for man.

• One minute with God is 8 months and 8 days for man.

• One second with God is 3 days and 22 hours for man.

The timeline for the punishment of the Hebrew adults had been set to 40 years – just under one hour heavenly time. Numbers 14:28-35

To their grief, the Godhead realized that the Hebrews had more faith in Lucifer despite the tremendous power displays performed by Jesus. It is ironic that Satan had not produced one miracle, but his lies whispered in the ears of the people, were accepted as truth. Exodus 32:7-9; Revelation 12:9

The Godhead decided that they had to intervene and rule the Hebrew children with a rod of iron for the next hour in order to kill off the adults and prepare the children to enter the Promised Land.

THE BUDDING ROD
In order to stop the constant murmuring against Moses, a man from each tribe was told to bring a rod to Moses that was to be placed in the tabernacle. Among the twelve rods, the one that budded would represent God’s chosen man.

Aaron’s rod bloomed and bore fruit. This supernatural sign had the intended effect of putting fear into the people so that they stopped murmuring. Numbers 17:1-13

LUCIFER ATTACKS MOSES
The Hebrews started their 40 year death march and came to the desert of Zin. There was no water available and they quickly began to murmur and blame Moses for their predicament. Numbers 20:1-5

Moses and Aaron turned to Jesus for help. Moses was instructed to speak to a large rock. verses 6-8

Moses was sick and tired of the many times he had been criticized and took out his anger on the rock by hitting it twice, not realizing that he was striking Jesus himself. verses 9-11

This act of anger and rebellion could not go unpunished and Jesus told Moses that he forfeited the privilege of entering the Promised Land. verse 12; 1 Corinthians 10:1-4

THE DEATH OF AARON
Aaron did not last the full 40 years. It must have been difficult for Moses to strip Aaron of his priestly garb and watch his brother die. Numbers 20:22-29

ATTACK BY THE CANAANITES
Lucifer activated King Arad and the Hebrews were beaten back. Prayer was spoken and Jesus intervened to kill the Canaanites. Numbers 21:1-3

SATAN NEVER GIVES UP
Lucifer kept rebellion smoldering in hearts of the Hebrew people. It became necessary for Jesus to intervene again by sending fiery serpents into the camp that killed large numbers of people. Moses prayed again for the people and Jesus halted the killing. verses 4-9

A SERIES OF BATTLES
The Hebrews traveled in the wilderness and came into contact with hostile nations.

• There was a battle with King Sihon of the Amorites. verses 21-26

• Jesus had to intervene to defeat King Og of Bashan. verses 33-35

THE PROPHET BALAAM
King Balak of Moab panicked when he heard that the Hebrews were close to his border. He realized that the armies of Sihon and Og had been destroyed by the Hebrews; he opted to try a different strategy and sent word to the prophet Balaam. Numbers 22:1-8

Jesus intervened and told Balaam not to curse the children of Israel. verses 9-12

King Balak sent higher ranking princes with more silver and gold to entice the prophet and Jesus got involved again. verses 13-20

Jesus saw the greed in Balaam and sent an angel to kill him. Fortunately, Balaam’s donkey saw the angel and worked to save him. verses 22-35

It didn’t matter what King Balak did to convince Balaam, Jesus put His word into the prophet’s mouth so that he blessed the Hebrews instead of cursing them. verses 16-30; Numbers 24:10-25

REUBEN AND GAD
Toward the end of the 40 years Moses led the Israelites to the border of the Promised Land on the eastern side of the Jordan River. This land had been promised to the tribes of Reuben and Gad and they sought permission to possess their land. Numbers 32:1-5

Moses was not happy that these two tribes were separating themselves and would not be part of the effort to take the rest of the Promised Land. verses 6-15

The leaders of Reuben and Gad received Moses’ blessing when they promised to leave their wives and children in the new settlement and their men of war would remain with the rest of the tribes until the Promised Land was secured. verses 16-33

MOSES’ END
As Moses was getting close to death, he used his last days to instruct the people and their leaders. The book of Deuteronomy is a summation of events and commandments given to Moses by Jesus. Deuteronomy 31:1-7

One day Jesus told Moses to climb the mountain of Nebo all the way to the top of Pisgah. The Son of God showed Moses the Promised Land and then He had angels remove Moses from his physical body and take him to Paradise.

Jesus knew the Hebrews would venerate and worship the body of Moses and He had the archangel Michael stand guard over the grave. Lucifer wanted to use the dead body of Moses and Michael had to call upon Jesus for help.

Jesus stated that Moses was unique among men and gave him more honor than Abraham. Deuteronomy 34:1-12; Jude 9

Some 1,500 years later Moses was summoned from Paradise along with the prophet Elijah to speak with the Son of God and confirm that His mission on earth as the God- man was on target and would soon be finished. Matthew 17:1-8

Remember, it’s not so important how you begin your life after salvation, but how you finish it!
